Saturday Night Update

Well, that was a fun day for a lot of the Puget Sound. Many areas saw bursts of snow throughout the day, however not much in terms of accumulations for most areas. Some favored areas that I pointed out in my blog yesterday saw an inch or two of accumulation. Tonight, winter weather advisories are out for most of the Western Washington, excluding the Puget Sound. There will be a general lull for most of the area tonight, before some more precipitation enters the area tmrw morning. By this point, temps will be cold enough throughout the Puget Sound for all precipitation to fall in the form of snow and minor accumulations will be possible. Expect 1-3 inches of snow in areas with the winter weather advisories. Some hi-res models have also been showing an organized band of snow entering the area tmrw morning and impacting the central Sound, this will be something to watch for on radar tmrw. Expect a fairly active Sunday as precipitation coverage will increase as the low moves closer to the coast.

Monday will be similar to tmrw, scattered snow showers in the area as the low continues to spin moisture back into Western Wa, adding to the accumulation. Once again, this is not an organized system so accumulations will occur sporadically and add up over time.

Now, models have been showing an interesting feature develop on Monday night, a deformation band. This feature could bring some additional snowfall to Western Wa. At this time, amounts look fairly meager, but this is a tricky feature to nail down.
Moving on to Wednesday, even more snow is expected, this time for Portland. As the low continues to slowly move south, it will spin up some moisture into Oregon. This won't be a major snowstorm, but accumulations are expected. At this point, 2-4 inches for much of the Western Oregon lowlands looks likely.

Some of this moisture could spread north into Western Wa on Thursday so we could see a bit more snow with that.

Phew. after all of that, snow chances look to continue into the weekend with another reinforcing shot of cold air likely next weekend.

Hope everyone sees some snow!!

Good night!!
